Working at Target with a criminal record? Will they see it when they do a background check?
About almost two years ago My friend and I went into a forest to target shoot a antique gun we had. (We were not on a private residence) the Cops came and arrested us and charged us with criminal trespassing with a deadly weapon which is a class A misdemeanor. Which sounds worse than what actually happened if you don’t know the whole story. I haven’t been convicted because I am on pre-trial diversion and it will be dismissed in March 2010. I applied to Target and the application asked if I had been convicted of a felony or if i had a criminal record. I put no because I have not been convicted only charged and it will be dismissed. Will they see the charge if they do a background check? I live in Austin TX.
Convicted and charged are two different things. Job apps only want to know if you have been convicted. So if they run it they will see it possibly that you were charged with it but have not been convicted of it. So in all honesty you told the truth by saying no!
