Does anyone know how I can identify an old bottle?
We dug it up in the backyard when we dug a storm shelter yesterday. The house was built in 1928.
The bottle is the old copper-colored glass, and the raised writing on the back says “Federal Law Forbids Sale or Re-Use of This Bottle” and underneath are three numbers spaced apart, “D11, 65, and 8.” The screw-on lid says “National Distilleries” (I’m also searching that for info) with a patent number and more numbers/letters I can’t read.
This still has some liquid contents in it, very cloudy-white but no odor.
(I couldn’t find an “Antiques” section to ask this question)
Make sure it is not poisonous! Go to the library and borrow a book on old bottles.
