Need original ideas for Sales/Specials for an Art & Antiques Gallery in Florida…?
We opened up an Art & Antiques Gallery several months ago (first time business owners – new strip mall)…business has been slow…winter was off season for Florida – and season has not kicked in yet! We have advertised in local papers…but need something original to catch perspective buyers shoppers interests, and get them to come into our Gallery….Thank you.
Try having some type of appraisial show. Encourage locals to bring in items and have them professionally appraised for them and show them items of that similar time period. Or some type of way to get the crowd/customer involved in guessing on the time period of an item you have in the store.
Get tents and move outside in the parking lot with your items. Have picnic tables on a nice day, offer food and discounts. Hire someone to get into a suit of armor, dress like a king. Maybe you could hold an outdoor, life size chess match, get contestants in scissor lifts with a board drawn in the sidewalk, maybe do just checkers with the people dressed up. Dress artists as famous painters, offer art education to kids, face paint, have a class with adult artists. Encourage an art contest with different age groups in the community, encourage art trading and bartering through your store.
Have a spot the fake sale. Customers get a discount on any print or painting if they can tell which one is the fake. (requires a little work on your part).
Offer in home appraising, offer the pick up of certain items at residences for sale in store.
