I’m disabled. Have a few “true” antiques to sell, don’t know where to go or who to go to.?
Chicago (north suburbs) hate to do it but really need to sell my grandmothers things. most from the 1800′s. Rocking chair, china cup and saucer’s(collectables)
Can you get out and about?
The best place to go is a local antiques dealer, they’ll give you a good valuation, any possibly arrange a visit to an auction house.
The rocking chair should be auctioned, as you won’t get a good price for it on ebay. The shipping is terrible, and things like that are very expensive to insure. Furniture always gets a better price in person, because furniture has a ‘feel’ to it, if you know what i mean.
The china, depending on age and condition, might be best sold through ebay. It’s not too heavy, and it will reach a very wide audience. That’s very simple to set up and deal with.
The best thing you can do at the moment, trawl around the internet.
See what similar things are selling, and see for how much. That way, you have a good idea of what you can expect from the auction / dealer.
