Worth of an antique coca cola freezer?
I’m inheriting an antique coca cola freezer from my grandparents. At this point I don’t really know much about it. I’m not going to sell it, but I am wondering how much it is worth? It’s like a large deep freezer, only red with “coca cola” in white across the front of it. It has a small bottle opener on the front of it as well. My grandmother thinks it still works.
I have no idea how old it is…I’m guessing between the 30′s and 50′s? Any one know anything about this product? I’ve searched online and found nothing.
First of all, it isn’t a freezer, it is a cooler which had cold water circulating through it which cooled the bottles of Coca cola which were put into the water. The customers served themselves by taking a bottle of coke, opening it on the bottle opener and drinking the coke. The value really depends on several things – does it cool the water, what size is it – as I remember, there were 3 sizes but I don’t remember how they measured them – probably by how much water they held. These were in use in the late 40′s and early 50′s. There used to be a Coca Cola site on the net that listed the value of different coke collectables, I have a coke belt buckle that you could use to get a 5 cent fountain coke at participating dealers that I looked up on it and found the belt buckle was valued at $25.
