How much can I get for antique fireplace mantels?
I have a few salvaged from a old hotel in Columbus Ohio, Only one “full” mantel the others are shelves all with beautiful moldings some painted some stained the full mantel has a old handwritten tag on the back that reads Ohio Furniture and Mantel Co. Ironton Wood and Mantel Co. I can tell they are all made by the same Co. I know prices all depend on location and Im in Columbus Ohio.
antique mantels can command great money. It’s about getting it in front of the right person. My suggestion is to sell it on ebay or craigslist or even bring it to an antique dealer to sell on commission. There is a big demand for them, especially if the quality is good. Its hard to say a price without seeing it but I will say that the range is pretty big, from $200 to in the $1000′s. Doesn’t hurt to offer it at and elevated price to see if you get any bites and then adjust the price to the interest you are getting. I previously owned a fireplace store and always had someone lined up who wanted one, but in truth, I really didn’t like dealing with it. It sounds like you have a quality piece on your hands so don’t offer it for too little, the right buyer is waiting to enjoy it, be patient if it’s a solid piece.
My average Mantle sale price was $1000 to $2000 for decent quality new mantels (made to look old). Make sure you are privy to this info when you price it. they can be spendy
