Oil painting “REPAIR” service?
I have an oil painting that was damaged this week. It has been in the family about 60 years. It is not an antique or Masterpiece but a very detailed landscape painting. It was painted on paper (not cloth). Three pieces of paper were “SCRATCHED ” away from the painting. Torn off if you will. Where do i find someone who could repair this? A college art school? What fees would i expect to pay? Hourly? I live outside of Detroit, Michigan. Thank you.
I restore oil paintings and depending on the size of your damage is how someone would charge you. Size of the damaged area and you will likely pay a little more because it was on paper and not canvas. Price though depends on size of damage. Try contacting a local college art instructor they may have their class restore it for free for you as a lesson on repairs for their students.
