Why won’t a store sell items in the window?
I passed by a “thrift” store last week and saw some valuable antiques and collectibles in the window. I went in to inquire about the prices and was informed that the items in the window were not for sale. I looked around the store and they just had more or less junk (plastic ice cube trays, chipped dishes, etc.) and nothing like what was in the display window. Is this deceptive marketing? Why won’t they sell the stuff in the window – after all, a business exists to make money.
Our Thrift store sells its items from our window. But it takes manpower to get these items out and to keep replacing the items. We chose to use our manpower to do this. That store may not be able to keep up with the flow since window items do move quickly. They may also need to keep items in to attract attention and use their best stuff. I agree, I would not like to be pulled into a store by a fancy window only to find junk inside.
