I have about 30k ( on a good day) worth of antiques and collectables – free and clear.

I could sell, but the market economy is so low, I’d hate to see such little return. I’ve been waiting for an upturn. I have other ideas, too.

Now I feel folks think I’m a loser because I need advice and someone to turn to.

I’m cash poor. Makes me sad and embarrassed.
I have approx. $1,500 in credit card debt and I hate just paying off the minumum fee each month.

Someone wonderful showed me another opportunity.
I think I really, really need to talk with him.

Needless to say, I would tread very lightly if I were you. Your current situation makes you a prime target to be scammed.

If you’re willing to take the risk, you could get a loan secured by your antiques provided that when you sell, the profit will exceed the interest on the loan.

as far as selling goes, you’ll still probably get your best return if you use craigs list and stay away from ebay (since it costs nothing for craigs list). but it’s good to find local sites as well.

You are not a loser, it is said that “wisdom is not in knowing, but in knowing that you do not know”. In my opinion, it’s much smarter to ask for advice than to give it.

$1,500 in credit card debt isn’t bad at all, but you may want to talk to a credit counseling service because they know all the loopholes on how to kill that debt without hurting your credit score. My brother used to work for one and if you can find a reputable business (check with the better business bureau) you should use it.

I can’t stress enough how you must be careful with this “wonderful opportunity” While everyone can agree that it takes money to make money, every successful businessperson I’ve encountered has a method of not using his or her own money, but someone elses.

Honestly I believe you’re in prime position to sell and need to find a plan to wait 1 year (I believe the economy will turn by then) and you’ll find yourself in a seller’s market. Until then, do what you need to survive and do not look for profit just yet.
