Great places to live in Alexandria, VA?
I need some recommendations on safe, fun areas to live in Alexandria or a nearby city in Northern Virginia. My husband and I like to walk, bike, and go to the theatre. We don’t drink much, don’t like noisy crowds. I am a big fan of boutique and antique shopping or at least “window shopping.” We don’t want to pay more than $2400, obviously less is better. We want to live near the metro. I think Old Town is for me, but maybe I’m narrowing my search too much. Any suggestions are so welcome, as I’m planning this move from California!
Del Ray is the best. Just outside of Old Town – has a mixture of bungalows, apartments, single family houses, duplexes, and row houses. Mt. Vernon Avenue is “the Avenue” with restaurants, boutiques, etc. (farmers market, butchery, cheese shop, planet wine, ice cream… even a cocoa shop…) You can walk to Old Town and 2 metro stops – King Street and Braddock. It’s like 1950s Mayberry, but with all the urban conveniences…. check it out!
