Historic Travel Spots around Nashville, TN?
I live in Nashville, TN and over Spring Break I would like to take a road trip around Middle Tennessee. I’m really into historic areas, antique shops, museums, theatre, etc… and would love some suggestions on areas or fun spots to visit!
Check out historic downtown Franklin—there are tons of shops (inc. tons of antique shops) and things in there—as well as the Carnton Plantation and the Carter House, and also the Factory has some cool shops. After you get tired of Franklin head down to Bell Buckle, TN. It’s about a 10 or 15 minute drive to get to historic downtown Bell Buckle from the interstate, but that drive is one of my favorite scenic drives ever. Eat at the cafe there in Bell Buckle, it’s a fun little place, and they have some really cool shops in there too. If you want to keep driving after checking out Bell Buckle you could go to Chattanooga. There’s a cool art district in Chattanooga you should check out. Also do Ruby Falls—I don’t recommend Rock City though if you’re doing Ruby Falls the same day. You’ll be sorely disappointed. It’s just a long hike that you pay to take. There’s also an aquarium there that’s kind of interesting, which also has an IMAX theatre….but if you want to see a good aquarium, you want to drive up to Gatlinburg to the Ripley’s Aquarium. It’s much better.
