Would Antique Stores Sell Old Cameras?
I’m absolutely in love with photography, and I would really enjoy having some vintage cameras.
I need answers quick! I’m going to Ellicot City today in Maryland, and they’ve got streets lined with antique stores!
Antique stores will sell anything and everything if they think they can make a buck off it. Yes, there will be some vintage cameras in some of the shops you will go into. Keep in mind, however, that probably every single one of them will be priced more than it is worth. Except for the really old cameras, the market for the typical consumer camera from 30 or 40 or 50 years ago isn’t really that strong, so be careful how much you pay.
Browse eBay and you will see that older film cameras can be had fairly cheap. If you find one in an antique shop you really like, then check for it on eBay and compare prices.
You might also want to have in mind what kind of camera you are wanting. 35mm, Polaroid, medium format…and consider to costs involved with buying and developing the film for each.
