Why is “Dark Materials: Northern Lights(1st edition) by Philip Pullman such a sought after antique book item?
I remember watching an auction prg on tv, and the book was sold for a whooping 1,000 UK pounds. I’m asking this question because the 1st edition hardcover was only published in 1981. Thanks in advance?
Well first off, it’s an awesome book.
Second, there’s amovie coming out based on that book.
Third, it’s possible that there were very few of 1st editions of this book printed.
Fourth, we might be witnessing the beginning of a pop culture icon in the His Dark Materials trilogy, just as LOTR became popular throughout the world. I’m sure a 1st edition Fellowship of the Ring is valuable these days, wouldn’t you say? And that was only published about 50 years ago.
