How much money can I get off an old hand made Chinese screen?
Its hardwood, glass designs on the front of it and very detailed painting on the back. its a beautiful piece that i got on sale at a resale shop for 350$. id like to know if it was a good deal or a mistake? i dont have any pictures..but its very old. antique. heavyish so its not like i can just haul it into my car and take it to another resale shop
idk how to really explain the front of it…it has flowers and trees with buildings and it looks as if it were in an ocean. its really detailed and made out of cuts of glass
Based on personal experience, you could contact a local Auction House. They usually will send an appraiser out to look at the piece. Depending on the popularity and demand for that particular item (and if its worth anything and an authentic antique), the appraiser may make an offer to put it up for auction and take it with him. You could try and talk to local antique shop owners, and some will come out to your home too. This way, you won’t need to lug the piece from place to place. or… Google the piece to see a rough ball park idea of its history and value. Although, on many sites, the desired price is all over the place or not consistent. I found, with yard sales that antique dealers will arrive earlier than scheduled start time looking for antiques or collectibles. If you have some idea of your piece’s value, then you will be able to negotiate a fair price with them. Good luck.
