How hot will a wick style oil heater get?
I’m restoring an old “Perfection” oil heater (same as the one in the link below), and would like to know how hot they get, so that I can buy the proper paint.

Ebay is not functioning….. maybe provide some details on where you plan on installing this heater and the surrounding materials.
I dont know what type of oil you are burning, but if you compare the BTU’s of #2 oil to wood, oil has an output of 138,500 per gallon and is about 90% effecient where as wood has an output of 8,000 per pound and is 40% effecient. Dude, the oil is 17 times hotter than wood. You do the math!
I would suggest you install brick or tile adhered to a non-combustable substrate such as concrete board. I assume your heater is free standing, so it probably needs a fireproof base on which to sit.
