What kind of vase do I have? (Asian with silver wire wrapping underneath)?
When my grandmother passed away, I noticed an antique vase that she had left in her estate sale. I never saw it before, so I’m not sure what it is. It is approximately seven inches high, with a reddish/rust laquer (?) on it, with a design of a dragon embedded in it. It doesn’t have any gold enlay in it. Sadly, I nicked it, when I bumped a shelf that I was cleaning. Underneath the laquer, I noticed that had all these silver wires that wrapped the shape of the vase. I have no idea the origin of this vase, the value, etc. and would appreciate any ideas, so I could further look up information with it online. Thanks.
I don’t have the ability to upload a photo of it right now. I’m just curious what kind of work would have wire wrapping underneath, and have some kind of laquer on top of it. (Such as the name of the technique, so that I can look it up further online.)
I’m not sure but it sounds really pretty, I’d check out different oriental decor sites or type in the description into google images, see if you find one like it and then go to that site
