How to refinish desk?
My mother-in-law found the most precious desk for my daughter’s room, the problem is the color. The room is painted bubblegum pink with antique rose canopy and valances. The desk is a deep, dark coral color. Can’t I just sand the desk down a bit then white wash over it? I don’t mind the difference in pinks, it’s just that coral pink needs to be subdued. What type white paint should I use? Something special or just basic white? Do I use a paint brush or a balled up rag, or some other type of brush? Could I use a light coat of the wall paint or would that mix badly with the coral pink? I will sand it down a bit, but I don’t want to sand it completely, no time for that intricate work.
It sounds like you really don’t want to change the color completely but to tone down the pink. I would suggest you get a glaze from a local paint store and follow the instructions on the container or ask the people at the store for instructions.
