Where can I sell an antique rifle?

I have a Arisaka Nagoya Arsenal type 38 rifle with serial number and mum* intact. I live in Indiana in lake county close to Illinois and I am looking for a place to where I can sell my japanese antique rifle. It still works. I am also wondering how much one would go for, I put in some research because i had no idea what kind of gun it was at first. please help me out because im trying hard to give my son sumthing for his birthday.

You cannot sell it ou-line without going through a licensed dealer. You cannot sell it on eBay. That answer is absolutely wrong. No firearms allowed on eBay. This is a WW II piece and does not qualify as an antique (for firearms license exceptions). Also, Japanese army rifles are fairly common and frequently do not bring much. I have bought a few as low as $40.

There are many military arms collectors and I suggest a private sale. If you want to take it to a gun show and sell it, there is one in Tipton several times a year at the armory. Nice show. Not too big, so you are not squeezed out in the mob. But large enough to attract some good dealers and a fair amount of buyers. I really like that show for buying and selling. Larger shows like the 1500 at the State Fair Grounds are so large and so packed I find it hard to do much dealing or even browsing. Just too crowded to be able to stop and enjoy the displays.

However, if you want a quick sale, you should go the private collector route. I have had quite a few of these rifles over the years and several with the mum in tact. Those are more plentiful that folks are lead to believe. However, it is still a war relic and not getting any more common.
